Linda Sarsour, executive director of the Arab American Association of New York in Brooklyn, has been representing Muslims in America for 13 years. She joined the AAANY as a student in 2001 just after the 9-11 massacre.
In the first video, Sarsour is addressing a Muslim Students Association on the campus of Tufts University near Boston in October 2014. She opens her speech attacking the NYPD for its use of surveillance against the Muslim community in Brooklyn, New York. [see full video here]

In an interview in 2008 about people’s reactions to traditional Muslims in public and specifically about her daughter’s name, Sajida, causing stereotyping. She responded to Tyra Banks:
“I’m so sick and tired of the ignorance in this country. If you’re afraid some Muslim guy’s going to bomb the plane, take the damn bus.” [see full video here]
Then in 2011, Sarsour impresses an audience with a foul-mouthed rapping session on the harassment of people against Muslims.

In an interview on “Know This with Ariana” in September 2011, Sarsour was asked if she ever regretted saying something in public. She said yes. She remembered the comments she made on the Tyra Banks Show and that “I didn’t filter myself, I could have said things differently. But one part of me says that’s the real me, that’s who I am.” [see full video here]
